Steps Widget & Smart Nudges4.7 - App Store
You'll be able to see results in few seconds.
Publisher Description
You spend most of your day sitting. You know walking is good for you, but between work, meetings, and life, it’s easy to forget. And most fitness apps ask for a big commitment: workout plans, memberships, calorie counting.
Steps Widget asks for much less. It puts your step count where your eyes already go, on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy, and gives you a gentle nudge only when you’ve been sitting a little too long. Not every hour. Not on a fixed schedule.
A few hundred extra steps here and there soon become part of your day, and those small moments add up. You don’t need to become a different person. Just move a little more today than yesterday. That’s how healthy habits begin.
DESIGN IT YOUR WAY
A step counter you find ugly ends up on page three, and a buried reminder is no reminder. The style editor lets you pick colors, gradients, and layouts, give light and dark mode their own look, and save your favorite styles to reuse on any widget.
NEW: STYLE FROM A PHOTO
Pick a photo you love. Steps Widget can pull a matching color palette from it, or place the photo right behind your step count. Drag and pinch to frame it, then adjust blur and tone.
THE SMART NUDGE
When glancing isn’t enough, Nudge steps in. Instead of an hourly buzz you’ll mute within a week, it learns your routine right on your device and shows up once, only when you’ve actually gone still. One nudge, when it’s earned, and nothing otherwise.
KEY FEATURES
. Beautiful Widgets: For Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy.
. Style Editor: Colors, gradients, and light and dark looks, saved as your own styles.
. Photo Styles: Turn any photo into a palette or a widget background.
. Smart Nudges: Learns your routine and alerts you only when you’re inactive, not on someone else's schedule.
. Standalone Apple Watch App: Runs on its own, with complications, progress rings, and move reminders on your wrist.
. Guilt-Free Tracking: No streaks to lose, no maps, no noise. Just a clean step counter.
NO GPS. BARELY ANY BATTERY.
Your iPhone already counts steps with its built-in motion sensors through Apple Health. Steps Widget simply shows that data-no background GPS location tracking, no constant polling, no battery drain.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your health data stays on your device. The app collects no personal identity information.
FREE TO START
Default widget styles and goal reminders are free. A subscription is only needed when you want to change your style with the style editor or photo styles.
See your steps, get a gentle nudge. Move a little more every day.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I set my own daily walking goal?
Yes. Pick the number of steps a day that suits you, and the progress ring fills as you walk toward it.
Can it remind me to move if I've been sitting too long?
Yes. With the Nudge feature, Steps Widget nudges you when you've been still for a while or you're falling behind your daily goal.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Steps Widget works on iPhone alone using Apple Health step data. With an Apple Watch you also get complications and move reminders on your wrist.
Does it show steps in StandBy mode?
Yes. Turn your charging iPhone sideways and your step count and progress ring appear in StandBy.

version 4.6
posted on 2026-10-06
Version History Straighten and flip a photo style.
The photo editor gained the adjustments it was missing: rotate a crooked shot level, flip it horizontally or vertically, and the widget crops from the result.
Also in this update
• A shared style card now shows what's inside it — the photo, the framing and the colors — and you can add a short message before you send it
• The reminder editor shows the average steps that followed each falling-behind message, so you can see which wording actually gets you moving
• Your goal-reached note arrives even when the app hasn't been opened all day
• A note on the home screen when iCloud is full, since settings and reminder wording can't sync until there's room
Steps Widget is made by one person, and I read everything that comes in. If something isn't working, or there's a widget style or a feature you wish existed, there's a way to reach me in Settings under About. 4.6 2d ago Write your own reminders.
Every goal reminder can now be rewritten in your own words — the nudge when you're behind, the note when you're ahead, the cheer when you reach your goal. Placeholders fill in your numbers, and sections with several messages rotate so the nudges don't repeat. Where Apple Intelligence is available, you can also describe a voice — a sports coach, a witty friend — and have your messages restyled.
Also in this update
• Share a photo style as a card; opening it in Steps recreates the style

• Deleting a style only resets the widgets it was saved to
• Photo styles are marked in the style picker, so they're easy to spot

When the widget you share is wearing one of your photo styles, the rest of the picture now spreads out around it, so the card reads as one photograph instead of a widget on a blank background.
Also in this update

• Pinch to zoom works on iPad as soon as a photo opens

version 3.9.1

Version History Hit your goal, and the nudging stops.
When your steps cross your daily goal, that day's reminder arrives as a
congratulation instead of a nudge — and it's the last you'll hear from it
until tomorrow.
Also in this update
• A refreshed app icon
• Goal reminders now count the steps your iPhone has sensed but Health
hasn't synced yet, so they stop nudging you when you've already walked
• Fixes across the app, widgets and Apple Watch
Steps Widget is made by one person, and I read everything that comes in. If
something isn't working, or there's a widget style or a feature you wish
existed, there's a way to reach me in Settings under About. 3.9.1 1d ago Goal reminders learn better, and now they share what they learn.
The model behind your reminders reads the last 24 hours as a rolling window and works forward hour by hour, instead of guessing your total in one jump. It picks up daily, weekly and monthly patterns, and keeps adjusting as your routine moves.
It also travels. Your iPhone and Apple Watch now share a single model through iCloud, so whichever device does the training, the other gets the result — instead of each one learning you separately.
Also in this update
• Settings shows when your model was last updated, and lets you reset it
• The style picker now says which widget suits the way you read your day
• Fixes across the app, widgets and Apple Watch
Steps Widget is made by one person, and I read everything that comes in. If something isn't working, or there's a widget style or a feature you wish existed, there's a way to reach me in Settings under About. 3.9 3d ago Your widget can now show the hours you stood.
When your Apple Watch is recording stand hours, they appear as a row of dots under the chart — one for every hour, filled in for the ones you got up. A glance now shows not just how far you walked, but how the day was spread out.
Also in this update
• Steps Widget works without Health access: if you'd rather not connect the Health app, your steps can come straight from your iPhone's motion sensor instead
• The chart moves instead of jumping — the line and the hours animate as your steps come in
• Fixes across the app, widgets and Apple Watch
Steps Widget is made by one person, and I read everything that comes in. If something isn't working, or there's a widget style or a feature you wish existed, there's a way to reach me in Settings under About. 3.8 Aug 12 A small fix-up release.
Steps Widget is made by one person, and I read everything that comes in. If something isn't working, or there's a widget style or a feature you wish existed, there's a way to reach me in Settings under About. A good part of this app started as someone else's suggestion. 3.7.1 Aug 10 This one is a round of polish.
• Start of Day is easier to find, and now says what it does — steps before it count toward yesterday
• A new Guide link in Settings opens the full documentation
• What a one-time widget purchase includes is spelled out more clearly: design your widget once, and pay again only if you want a new look
• Fixes and refinements across the app, widgets and Apple Watch 3.7 Aug 5 Insight
Every week, Steps Widget finds the one thing worth noticing in your last seven days — a personal best, a milestone crossed, your steadiest week yet, or the hour when you do most of your walking. One headline, one card, and the chart behind it.
Goal reminders that keep up with you
When your walking routine shifts, the widget lets you know, and your reminders retrain around your new hours.
Also in this release
• Fixed an issue that could prevent access to Health data
• A clearer explanation of one-time widget purchases, and yearly savings shown up front
• Refinements across the Apple Watch app and widgets 3.6 Aug 1 A bug-fix update, with thanks to everyone who reported these.
• Fixed an error some people saw when granting Apple Health access — the permission prompt now works reliably.
• Apple Watch: the Health access request and your step count load properly in the watch app again.
• Steps refresh right away when you reopen the app on iPhone or Apple Watch.
• Fixed the "time ago" label on widgets so the last-updated time stays accurate.
• Wording and translation polish in every language.
If Steps Widget has earned its spot on your Lock Screen, a rating or a short review really helps a small indie app get found. Something still off? Tell us in the app — tap "Could be better" when we ask how it's going, and describe what happened. Every report gets read. 3.5.1 Jul 26 New Features, Enhanced Tracking, and Smoother Performance
